The Droplet - Prologue

Prologue: The Old Faucet

A humble meal was served on a wooden table; three cups ofwater and a loaf of plain bread. The yellow bulb was glowing dimly with somebreaks of flashes.
Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip.
The door was left opened a little. Brave infant lightventured into the unknown darkness where the owls hunt. Unknowingly, coldbreeze of the night intruded the sanctuary.
Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip.
The monotonic song of the old faucet continued. The bread was cold. It was supposed to be a symphony by three in a family butnone was seen and the faucet had made an entry.

Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip.

Drops and drops and drops of crystal clear droplets fell towards the sink. They would soon be traveling through the drain and into the sewers. How they were so pure then but so tainted later. Some would stay tainted, some would later be purified by the Man while others would conquer the heaven, forming the droplets on the sky.

Such was the journey of the droplets. Going through a journey and came out in variety. No one really saw which was worthy, a tainted sanctuary or a never ending journey. The faucet grinned at this, as he was a constant without worries, stayed the same and would continued to be the same. He was a constant.

But nothing was really a constant. There were changes. Little? Sure. Slow? Surely. Insignificant? Never! Slowly and steadily, the faucet was corroded by the continuous droplets. The steel never knew age before but the faucet did. It used to be shiny and metallic but then it was dull with some browns. The droplets left their marks in their never-ending journeys. They were never insignificant, they had their legacy. Little it was but insignificant it never was.

Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip.

The faucet continued to borrow the song of the droplets as it sang breaking the silent night. New song would come to its sanctuary till then, he had his entry. Oh, he remembered the boy, what was his name... Benji, the strange kid that Vary.
